Make a freedom of information request

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) you have the right to request any recorded information held by Essex Police. You can ask for any information you think a public authority may hold. The right only covers recorded information and can be in the form of a question, rather than a request for specific documents. Essex Police does not have to create new information or give opinion or judgment that is not already recorded. Some information may be exempt. Personal data will not be disclosed under the act. To explore our stats and data, search our publication scheme archives for published documents which may answer quick questions. We are committed to delivering an open and transparent service whenever possible and it is our intention to publish information in our Publication Scheme that the public have an interest in viewing.

We aim to respond to requests for information within 20 working days of receiving them. Requests may be considered under the publication scheme in case others are searching for the same information.
