Husband pays tribute to woman who died following argument between dog owners

The husband of a woman who died following a verbal argument between dog owners in Braintree has described her as the light of his life.

Valerie Ager, 65, from Braintree died on January 4, 2012 when she collapsed after an argument in Trafalgar Way.

Mrs Ager was accompanied by a man in his 60s. The incident started at about 9.45am in Trafalgar Way and moved into Connaught Gardens where she collapsed and an ambulance was called about 10.20am.

Mrs Ager was taken inside an address in Connaught Gardens where sadly, she died.

A post mortem examination carried out on Thursday, January 5, 2012 was inconclusive and further tests are to be carried out. 

Mrs Ager's husband Robert Ager has paid tribute to her. He said: "My beloved wife Val was tragically taken from me on Wednesday, January, 4 2012.

"She was a loving and caring wife to me for nearly 44 years. She was the light of my life and now I am in a dark world. She loved her dog Amber and being in her garden planting out her hanging baskets.

"She had many friends, who all miss her so much, and she did not have a bad word to say to anyone."

A 39-year-old man from Braintree who was arrested in connection with Mrs Ager's death has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until February 15, 2012. 

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating the death as a suspected manslaughter offence.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of Trafalgar Way and Connaught Gardens between 9.30am and 10.30am on Wednesday, January 4 , 2012 and may have any information to contact the Brentwood Major Crime team on 101 or email scdappeals@essex.pnn.police.uk
