Assault leaves 21-year-old man with memory loss
A 21-year-old man who stopped to help a man lying on the ground
has been left with memory loss after being seriously
assaulted.
The victim went to help a man lying in Southchurch Road in
Southend around midnight on Friday, August 12 when he was
approached by two men and a woman.
He was kicked, punched, knocked unconscious and suffered bleeding
on the brain, severe bruising and cuts to his head.
Passers-by alerted police and the ambulance service and the victim
was taken to Southend Hospital for treatment but is unable to
remember much about what happened.
The man he had gone to help got up from the ground and walked
away.
Several witnesses have come forward but police urgently need to
speak to a taxi driver who had to stop because two men
were standing in the middle of the road.
Police would also like to hear from anyone who has not already
contacted them.
Dc Bob Evans from Southend CID said: "It is very difficult to piece
together exactly what happened that night and I need to hear from
anyone who was in the area and can help with our enquiries."
