Appeal following two fatal collisions
Officers from Stanway road policing unit are appealing for
witnesses after a 49-year-old cyclist died on Sunday, June 6,
It is thought that Jane Wilsher from Long Road East, Dedham was
riding downhill at Mill Road, Lawford at about 11am when she lost
control of her bike.
Jane was taken to Colchester General with head injuries and
died later that afternoon.
Jane originally came from Ipswich and went to Kesgrave High
School. When she left school she went into nursing and became a
theatre nurse at Colchester General Hospital.
Jane married her husband Kevin in 1990 at Martlesham Church.
They first lived in Colchester and then moved to Dedham in
They have three sons and one daughter, aged between 9-19 years
Her family said: “Jane was a devoted mother and wife, keen gardener
and a member of the Dedham Horticultural Society.”

Police are also appealing for information following a second
fatal road collision at the weekend.
Nathan Goodey, 19, of Colson Path, Loughton, died following
a collision at Albert Road, Buckhurst Hill at around 10.15pm on
A pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision and taken to
the Royal London Hospital for treatment. The local man, thought to
be in his 20s, is in a serious but stable condition.
The road was closed for a number of hours while the crash was
investigated and officers would like to thank local residents for
their patience and cooperation.
