Surprise for Canvey teenager
Canvey Police Community Support Officer Janis Nelson had an
end-of-term surprise for schoolgirl Molly Manzie.
She presented the
youngster from Canvey with a signed and framed poster of
her favourite dance group, Diversity, at an awards ceremony at
the Child Support Centre in Basildon.
Janis met Molly, 13, in the course of her work as a PCSO
and has been mentoring the teenager through a difficult time.
She said: “Molly has not found things easy, but has worked
really hard to turn the situation around.
"When I heard of the progress she has made at CSC, including a 100
per attendance record, I thought how I might encourage her to keep
up the good work. I knew she liked Diversity, so I approached
the group and they were only too pleased to sign the poster for
her, which we had framed.”
