Operation Cabinet policing costs

A figure is now available for the total policing costs relating to Operation Cabinet, the policing response to Basildon Borough Council’s work to clear plots at the Dale Farm travellers’ site.

Operational and non-operational costs totalled £2,375,237. This figure will be presented to the Essex Police Authority’s Finance and Audit Committee on January 30.

Essex Police continues to look to fulfil a commitment to provide a further breakdown of these costs, as well as provide other information not yet released, as part of a publication strategy agreed prior to the operation. It is anticipated this further information will be released at the end of January.
