District Commander update

Stansted Airport district commander - Chief Insp Graham Stubbs

Welcome to the Essex Police website for Stansted Airport. Policing an international airport poses challenges over and above those encountered in everyday police work. Here, at Stansted, we also have to be prepared to deal with more specialised incidents, such as counter terrorism, immigration, and major events relating to the aviation industry.

Although Stansted is the 4th busiest airport in the UK, recorded crime here continues to decrease. We also solve over two thirds of those crimes suggesting that Stansted is not only one of the safest airports but also the one where criminals are more likely to get caught! This is not achieved through luck. The policing teams here work very closely with partners, such as: Stansted Airport Limited; the UK Border Force; the airline operators; and, the many retailers on site, to make it the safe place that it is.

I am always looking to improve the quality of policing at Stansted and we now have named officers, and priorities, for both of our Neighbourhoods. My teams aim to be in the right place at the right time to provide reassurance, reduce crime, and deter anti-social behaviour. Consequently, please feel free to speak to them if you: have any concerns; want to pass on information; or, would like to discuss local issues.

In short, Stansted Airport is a very safe place however please continue to be vigilant and, if you see, or hear, anything suspicious, do not hesitate to report it to the police immediately.
