Cars driving along the High Street.
Raised on 07/07/2010
Braintree High Street is essentially a pedestrian only zone,
with access for vehicles restricted to buses, loading vans and
emergency vehicles. The restricted zone stretches from the Cycles
UK shop at the top of the High Street, to the junction of the High
Street and St Michael’s Lane. In addition, disabled vehicles are
allowed to use a strictly limited number of parking bays in Market
Place and Great Square, but are not permitted to drive further
along the High Street. An operation has been set up to address the
issues of cars driving down the High Street and people caught will
recieve a £30 fixed penalty notice.
